Welcome to the Adobe® Photoshop® Camera Raw 4.5 plug-in release candidate on Adobe Labs. The Camera Raw plug-in provides easy access within Photoshop to the raw image formats produced by many leading professional and midrange digital cameras.

The ‘release candidate’ label indicates that the plug-in is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers.

The Camera Raw team would like the community to help verify the quality of the plug-in through normal usage as this will ensure that the plug-in is tested on a diversity of hardware and software configurations not available internally at Adobe.

Those Lightroom users who have installed Lightroom 1.4 should uninstall the update and install Lightroom 1.3.1.(Mac, Win) until a further update can be provided. The date of compilation of this build is Nov 1st 2007, so there are chances that this could be a version sent out to testers. There is also rumor that this version will have only few fixes for Vista users.

Adobe product manager Geoff Baum gave a demo of Photoshop Express, the Flash-based image editor that runs inside a Web browser.

The application is aimed at consumers, rather than professional developers, and complements existing versions. Baum showed how people can quickly make changes to images with the program.

With one click, people can fix red eyes or blemishes. The application also generates a thumbnail of an image with various effects, like sepia tone, which people can click on to select.
Below the main image editing window, there is a timeline of thumbnail images that lets people view all the changes they've made to a photo and revert to older versions.

The features that got perhaps the most applause from Max attendees was the ability to selectively change colors in an image.

This powerful plug-in has been updated to support more cameras and include more features, and is available as part of Adobe Photoshop CS3. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 is now also available and is built upon the same powerful raw processing technology that is available in the camera raw plug-in.

Unistall Photoshop CS3 beta

If you've installed a beta build of Photoshop, Flash, Soundbooth, or other CS3 software, you must first uninstall the app(s) before installing the shipping versions:

On the Mac, the uninstaller is in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Note: You cannot uninstall by dragging CS3 applications to the trash; instead, you must use the uninstaller.

On Windows XP, uninstall via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

On Windows Vista, in the Programs section of the Control Panel, select Uninstall a Program.

If you experience problems with the uninstall or the install, you may need to use the Adobe CS3 Clean Script which will be available within a few days.

Free online web based Photoshop

Hoping to get a jump on Google and other competitors, Adobe Systems plans to release a hosted version of its popular Photoshop image-editing application within six months, the company's chief executive said Tuesday.

The online service is part of a larger move to introduce ad-supported online services to complement its existing products and broaden the company reach into the consumer market, Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen told CNET News.com.

The hosted Photoshop service is set to be free and marketed as an entry-level version of Adobe's more sophisticated image-editing tools, including Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Chizen envisions revenue from the Photoshop service coming from online advertising.

Adobe announced it is now shipping Photoshop Lightroom 1.0, its professional level digital photography application and also that it has released updated Camera Raw 3.7 software with additional support for digital cameras. Available for both Windows and Mac platforms, Photoshop Lightroom allows photographers to import, manage and present large volumes of digital photographs. Photoshop Lightroom includes several new innovative features that streamline digital photography workflows. Adobe is offering Photoshop Lightroom to all new customers at a special introductory price of $200 through April 30, 2007; it will later sell for $300: users of Photoshop Lightroom beta will have access to the program until its expiration on February 28, 2007. The application ships as a Universal Binary for native operation on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs; Adobe recommends at least a 1GHz G4 Mac running Mac OS X 10.4.3.

Adobe said that the tools and features in Photoshop Lightroom help photographers tailor their digital photography workflows. The Library and Develop modules have the organizing and editing features for image management and non-destructive editing, and Photoshop Lightroom makes it easy to send images to and from Photoshop for pixel editing. Once editing is complete, users can showcase their images in Photoshop Lightroom with the Slideshow, Print and Web modules.

For the first time ever, Adobe is delivering a widely available Photoshop CS3 beta to enable customers to more easily transition to the latest hardware platforms, particularly Apple's new Intel based systems. The beta is available as a Universal Binary for the Macintosh platform as well for Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista computers, with the final shipping release of Adobe Photoshop CS3 planned for spring 2007.

Adobe has a long-standing commitment to the Mac community and this release is Adobe's way of delivering native performance on Intel based systems many months earlier than we otherwise could have done. We have no doubt, however, that all of our customers will enjoy exploring the new Photoshop CS3 beta and seeing some of the new features we have in store. The full application is not yet complete; but, many of the additions to the product are fully implemented and ready for you to try and discuss.

I just found a nice video tour of photoshop CS3

The first thing that you will notice that is drastically changed in photoshop CS3 is the palette menu. It is one single column now. Concerning the palette menu, I can't tell if anything is missing, since I don't use photoshop throughly like some graphic designers do. Next what I noticed is the "Save for Web" menu has been changed for "Save for Web & Device." It seems like Adobe is providing the utilities for graphic designers to target embedded devices such as PDAs and cell phones.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 beta is available in English only. Customers who have a valid serial number for all other language versions of qualifying Adobe products can download the software. For Windows: Intel(r) Xeon(r) , Xeon Dual, Centrino(r) or Pentium(r) 4 processor, Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or higher, Microsoft Windows Vista. Both platforms require 512 MB RAM and a 1024x769 resolution screen. Photoshop CS3 beta will expire soon after the launch of Photoshop CS3 in Spring 2007.Details on final pricing, system requirements and availability have yet to be determined.

In the early hours of Friday, Dec. 15, a public beta of Photoshop Creative Suite 3 will be made available for download on Adobe Labs, the developer website used to showcase emerging technologies and beta software.

Adobe has announced that a Beta version of Photoshop CS3 will be available for download tomorrow (15th December). To use CS3 you must have a valid CS2, Creative Suite 2, Creative Suite Production Studio, Design Bundle, Web Bundle or Video Bundle serial number. Without this serial number the Beta of CS3 will expire in just two days. As well as a range of improvements and user interface changes the biggest news with CS3 is Universal Binary support for Mac OS X, providing much performance relief to Mac Intel owners.
